Derrick Taylor is a decorated former federal agent and accomplished author. In his twenty-five years of experience with the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS), he was assigned to a variety of organizations, including the elite Fugitive Task Force Unit based in Los Angeles, California, In addition, Derrick was the lead investigator in various types of high profile criminal and civil investigations at the federal, state and local levels. Derrick served ten years as an undercover agent tracking dangerous fugitives. Since retiring from DHS, Derrick has applied his extensive law enforcement expertise to supporting prominent Fortune 500 Corporate Companies and the private sector. Derrick was a Personal Security Specialist for Elon Musk at Space X, for the past three years.

Born in Los Angeles CA, Derrick is a graduate from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center Academy in Glynco, Georgia. In 1998 he was sworn in as a Federal Agent with the United States Immigration and Nationalization Service in Los Angeles, CA. Derrick served in prominent roles of increasing responsibilities with the Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security. In the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks he was assigned to the Joint Terrorist Task Force Unit in Washington D.C. In 2007, he was promoted to Supervisory Prosecution Officer with the United States Central Attorney's District Office in Los Angeles, CA. He was awarded the Medal of Valor from the Department of Homeland Security, the Secretary’s Award for Excellence and the City of Los Angeles Medal of Honor.
